I am a Software Engineer, working in an IT firm. Yeah, I got 14L salary package, got really good looking wife and almost all the things which I previously mentioned. I can do almost whatever I want but happy. I didn't realize this until one news in the daily hit me deep - 'Kovai guy won 'Amateur Photographer Of the Year' '. Below that headline is a photo of the winner and his award winning photo. It's my friend, Dhiman.
It was just like yesterday but was long back, even before our marriages. It was our bachelor life and we made the most out of it. We used to travel out to some places every year and 'we' in the sense, five people - Fantastic 5, as we would call ourselves. Yeah it's too much of a brag, but it's kind of fun.
Dhiman, quite different from us, used to take photos in every travel. He doesn't have regular jobs like we do but he still came to every trip, not just to see but capture. Such passion he used to have but what he gets was blaming from their parents, humiliation from their relatives and what even worse was - even we used to teased him. He was the one best intelligent guy from our gang, had the ability to get greater jobs than we had, even actually he got but he rejected. We used to scold him like anything but he just says, just says, one simple golden sentence - 'I like to take photos and I am happy'.
He used to say this from his childhood, while everyone used to say ' I wanna become doctor', 'I wanna become Engineer', 'Pilot', 'Army men' and such. He said he wanted to become a photographer and he was happy while saying that and he was after then too, at his 20's. He faced every criticisms, even from us which we are not supposed to, with a charming smile with lots of pains inside. Now, at the award winning ceremony, he said, 'I don't even want this award and recognition. I like to take photos and I am happy'. Still hasn't changed a bit but very different, at least to this society, as he's used to be.
After finish reading the news of his, didn't looked at any other, closed and opened my laptop. I knew I was running late for the office but did opened the lap. I opened Chrome, opened blogger.com, opened a new blog site of my own. It's because, back in my childhood, I said ,'I want to become a writer'.
I was now at my 70's, became old and feeble, still writing blogs, not getting a award and recognition because ' I don't want awards or recognition. I like to write and now 'I AM HAPPY' '.
